The Wild Weft
Caleigh Stednitz is a dyer and weaver living in Brewerytown, PA. Utilizing the customary textile methods of ikat and resist techniques, she explores colors through synthetic and natural dyes to create hand woven hangings. Her progression from using strictly synthetic dyes to natural dyes was to enhance the experience of traditional weaving practices, boiling plant matter and producing dyes herself. Natural materials produce subtle yet strikingly beautiful dyes that vary from weaving to weaving.
